Sandhill crane

Crane at the Cincinnati Zoo.

Like all cranes, sandhill cranes (Grus canadensis) are “dancers”. A male and female will show each other attention by leaping, bowing, running, stretching their necks, and flapping their wings. Sometimes they sing while they dance and sound very much like a trumpet.
